macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). 8 GB RAM is enough; 16 GB recommended if you use the larger AI models. Apple Intelligence is not required.
Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Lingyi to Applications. The first time you open it, macOS may say it's from an unidentified developer — right-click the app → Open → Open. You only do this once.
Open Lingyi → click the menu-bar icon → Settings → License → paste the key from your email → Activate. It works completely offline afterwards.
Screen Recording for capture and subtitles, Accessibility for translating selected text, and Microphone for dictation. Everything is processed on your Mac — nothing is recorded or uploaded.
Yes. Translation runs on-device using Apple's engine or a local AI model. The optional AI model downloads once from ModelScope (accessible in China). No Google, no VPN.
Lingyi checks for updates automatically and you can also use menu → Check for Updates… in the app. Need a specific build? Browse all versions.
